There are more traditions that rule my life than I would like to admit.
Every winter I assemble a parade of assorted snowmen that park it on top of the kitchen cupboards. We usually put them out at Christmas time and they stay put until the snow has melted. When the Snowmen Guard has been packed away, the Easter Bunny decorations and ceramic eggs my Grandma made for me long ago are brought out.
I don’t do a lot of holiday decorating for three reasons.
- I hate clutter so pulling out seasonal clutter just because it’s holiday related grates on me.
- I don’t own a lot of holiday decorations. (See reason #1)
- I usually forget to get the holiday stuff out until two days before the holiday, so what’s the point anyway?
When the kids were babies, I may have skipped holiday decorating all together however particularly at Easter time, I have to get out the “Easter tote” so the kids can play “scatter-the-plastic-eggs-all-over-the-house” game. “Be advised children, that any plastic eggs found in July go in the garbage can!”
